College Basketball Waiver Wire: Pickups of the Week

This article is part of our College Basketball Waiver Wire series.

We're getting close to the finish line, with only two weeks remaining in most conference's regular season. It's another week where there (thankfully) weren't a lot of landscape-changing injuries, making for very few must-add options. But here's a look at a few guys who could push you over the top in season-long leauges.

Power Conferences

Nike Sibande, F , Pittsburgh

It's slim pickings in the ACC on this week's wire. Sibande has started two straight for the Panthers, and saw 36 minutes over the weekend with Au'Diese Toney sidelined by a concussion. That resulted in 12 points and seven boards, numbers in line with his three-year averages at Miami (OH). If Toney remains out, Sibande can have some value for this week.

Jaemyn Brakefield, F, Duke

Brakefield seems to be the beneficiary of Jalen Johnson's opt out, seeing his minutes increase in each of the Blue Devils last three games. He's not going to carry you in any category, and his minutes will likely fluctuate if he's not the hot hand, but he's shown capable of contributing across the board, posting seven points, five rebounds and four assists against Wake Forest, and following that up with 11 points, five boards and four blocks against Virginia. Those diverse lines make him worth a look in deep formats.

Boo Buie, G, Northwestern

That resulted in 12 points and seven boards, numbers in line with his three-year averages at Miami (OH). If Toney remains out, Sibande can have some value for this week.

Those diverse lines make him worth a look in deep formats.

Boo Buie, G, Northwestern

Buie reentered the starting lineup yesterday, and provided 19 points, four assists and two rebounds across 31 minutes. He's been productive as a starter previously, enjoying a five-game stretch in December that saw him put up 16.8 points, 4.6 assists and 2.6 rebounds, and assuming the minutes have returned to a high level, he should be a reasonable provider of points and dimes down the stretch.

Jamal Mashburn, G, Minnesota

Mashburn has moved into the starting lineup with Gabe Kalscheur suffering a broken finger and has shined, averaging 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists. Maybe he only helps fantasy managers in the scoring column, but there's little to suggest these totals aren't sustainable.

Charlie Moore, G, DePaul

Moore has returned from a knee issue that cost him three of the Blue Demon's prior four games, and while he didn't start, he logged 32 productive minutes, piling up 24 points, eight assists and six rebounds. He can safely be added wherever previously released, and started with confidence. Teammate Oscar Lopez merits consideration in deeper Big East-heavy formats.

Chuck Harris, G, Butler

The Bulldogs are a mash unit presently, which has resulted in Harris taking on new offensive responsibilities. He played 31 and 39 minutes in their last two games, putting up 35 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and three steals while taking a whopping 29 shots (16 from long range). So long as the team remains shorthanded, Harris and your lineups can benefit.

Eric Williams, F, Oregon

I'm admittedly not certain Williams will remain healthy, or regain the 30+ minutes he was playing earlier in the year. But he's back from a knee issue that cost him four of the Ducks last five games and he's proven to be productive when given minutes. With limited other options in Pac 12 circles this week, Williams merits roster addition.

Michael O'Connell, G, Stanford

It would be easy to take O'Connell's last game line (17 points, seven assists, six rebounds, two steals) and rush to add him, but it's important to note that came in 52 minutes of triple-overtime action. I won't fully discredit the line however, and O'Connell seems capable of helping out with assists and steals, making him a reasonable add for anyone chasing in those categories.

Jordan Bruner, C, Alabama

Bruner returned over the weekend from a nine-game absence. He's a depth piece only in SEC formats, and can help on the glass and with blocked shots. Alabama's pace gives him occasional scoring outbursts to boot, and center eligibility boosts Bruner's modest appeal.

Kobe Brown, F, Missouri

Brown enjoyed a solid week with Jeremiah Tilmon in and out of the Tigers' lineup, putting up 33 points, 11 rebounds, three steals and two blocks against South Carolina and Georgia. This week's schedule isn't nearly as favorable, with slow-paced Mississippi up next followed by Texas A&M, who's had six straight games called off. Brown isn't a standout, but is another decent frontcourt depth piece in SEC circles, and merits consideration if you need help on the glass in a week with minimal options.

Tier 2 Conferences

Fabian White, F, Houston

White logged 20 minutes over the weekend in his second game back from a torn ACL, and flirted with a double-double, finishing with 10 points and nine boards. Houston figures to continue upping his minutes as he gets his legs back under him, and while he isn't likely to be an offensive focal point, there's a good chance he can lead the Cougars in rebounds more nights than not, as he looks to be the team's best frontcourt option.

Ryan Daly, G, St. Joseph's

Daly returned from a 10-game absence over the weekend, and promptly put up 30 points and seven boards. Given the length of his absence, his previous managers likely ran out of patience and used the roster space elsewhere, especially when considering the Hawks have nothing to play for, and Daly was no sure bet to return. He's a known commodity and a difference-maker you rarely find this late in the year.

Isaiah Marin, G, New Mexico

Marin missed two games due to illness, but upon return, he was handed a season-high in minutes (29) against Wyoming, following it up with 25 in their second matchup after having seen 20 minutes just once all season prior. He was wildly inconsistent in the scoring column, but found ways to contribute across the board. The freshman's role appears to be ascending, something that's scarcely seen at this juncture of the year, which at least puts him on watch lists where the Lobos feature.
