Could earn full-time role
Poulin is one of several players general manager Kyle Dubas expects to challenge for a roster spot next season, Rob Rossi of The Athletic reports Friday.
ANALYSIS
Poulin was limited to only three games with the Penguins this year in which he registered two shots, five hits and three blocks while averaging 7:47 of ice time. The 23-year-old wigner was significantly more productive in the minors with AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, generating 15 goals and 15 assists in 39 contests.

2019 Fantasy Outlook
Poulin's selection by Pittsburgh with the 21st overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft was a surprise to many, as the youngster isn't considered close to NHL ready, and the Penguins will remain in win-now mode as long as Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin are still in the fold. Still, the 18-year-old winger is a solid two-way player with a high hockey IQ that should earn him a spot on the 23-man roster sooner rather than later. If he puts together another impressive season in the QMJHL this year, he'll likely turn pro and join AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton for the 2020-21 campaign.
