Claypool is signing a one-year contract with the Bills, Jonathan Jones of CBSSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Unable to make an impact in Chicago or Miami last season, Claypool now heads to his fourth NFL team for his fifth year in the league. It's about as good of a locale as he could've hoped for, as the Bills have a strong-armed franchise QB and questionable depth at WR. Claypool could perhaps serve as a deep threat off the bench even if his days as a starter are numbered.

Gets opportunity in Buffalo
Claypool, who's played with the Steelers, Bears and Dolphins over the last two seasons, agreed to a one-year deal with the Bills on Friday, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Bills seem like a natural landing spot for the physically gifted but underachieving receiver, whose career is need of a reset after a significant downturn over the last pair of campaigns. Claypool looked like a rising star after posting a combined 121-1,733-11 line in his first two seasons with the Steelers, so if he can rediscover something close to that form, he should have ample opportunity in a Bills receiver room that is being completely revamped this offseason.

2020
Claypool's career has been trending south ever since a rookie season with 11 total TDs and 873 receiving yards. He had nearly as many yards (860) his second year, but with only two TDs and some mental/effort errors that drew the ire of both Pittsburgh's fans and coaching staff. After a slot start last year, the Steelers shipped him off Week 9 to Chicago where Claypool played out the rest of the season as a part-time player (48 percent snap share in seven games) in a run-heavy offense. The Bears figure to pass more this year, not only because of regression to the mean but also because Justin Fields improved last year and got big-time help this offseason at wide receiver (DJ Moore) and offensive tackle (10th overall pick Darnell Wright). With Darnell Mooney expected back from ankle surgery, Claypool may only be the No. 3 receiver despite boasting one of the most ridiculous athletic profiles in the league (he ran a 4.42 40 at 238 pounds coming out of Notre Dame in 2020).
